Colombo : At least 29 Tamil rebels and a soldier died in strong fights in different places of northern Sri Lanka, according to sources from the Defense Ministry.
A military dispatch spread in Colombo reported those clashes happened in Vavuniya, Welioya, Jaffna and Mannar districts, wounding 10 soldiers.
In the strongest battle six members of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Tigers (TELT) died when the army attacked in Vavuniya.
Another offensive against a series of rebel trenches in Mannar killed five separatists.
Another 18 Tamil Tigers died in combats on different fronts, according to the official dispatch.
