Damascus : Jordan’s Minister of Agriculture Muzahim Muhaisin has signed with his Syrian counterpart Adel Safar the 2008-2009 agricultural cooperation executive programme between the agriculture ministries of both countries and minutes of the meeting of the Joint Jordanian-Syrian Committee.
Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in areas related to agricultural research, agricultural and animal products, agricultural marketing and policies and the exchange of expertise, training and visits between the two countries.
Muhaisin highlighted the strong relations between Jordan and Syria, adding this was clear in the positive atmosphere that prevailed during the meetings.
The minister said in a statement to Petra Monday that the agreement comes within efforts to boost cooperation in the agricultural domain with a view to addressing challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The Syrian minister described Jordanian-Syrian ties as excellent, adding that both countries have joint programmes in the fields of water, lands and agriculture.
He also called for further coordination between Jordan and Syria to ease the impact of the rise of prices of food items on both countries.
