Speaking at a seminar held at her campaigning headquarters in Khaldiya Wednesday evening, themed “Where is the future of our children headed,” she said the imbalance in the educational system stemmed from the lack of clear vision of the Ministry of Education itself.

Training programs for teachers are not up to level, and there is a wide gap between what is being offered and reality, she said.

The candidate also pointed to problems resulting from expatriate teachers and that fact that many were below the desired proficiency level, stressing the need to select the most qualified and to eliminate the spreading phenomenon of private tutoring.

Moreover, Al-Ameeri said the conflicting statements by the Education Ministry officials reflected just how much confusion was taking place within the ministry’s walls.

She called for focusing on the educational process because it was the basis for the development of any society.
