Hanoi : A bill relating to the development and use of nuclear power in Vietnam excels in the agenda of debates of National Assembly (ANV).
The legal text, of 12 chapters and 98 clauses, establishes guidelines for the security and safe use of that type of energy, a goal considered to be of noticeable importance for the progress of the country.
It tackles among others aspects topics like transport and commerce of radioactive substances and predicts national, foreign and individual investment in health, electricity and ecological areas.
At the same time, it does not allow activities that infringe national sovereignty in that area, as research, storage or use of any type of nuclear weapons.
During the deliberations, the deputies agreed with the proposed legislation, but they demanded more concrete rules regarding the formation of personnel of the sector and from the state administration of atomic security.
They also knew in detail the project of the first atomic-electrical power station to be built in the country from 2015 on, and to be started up by 2020.
The other central topic was the political-administrative remodeling of Hanoi, with a view to contemplate that in an initial stage absorbs the neighboring province of Hatay and territories of other regions.
The project approved by government would turn this capital by 2020 and 2050 into a mega city, also integrated by other seven more provinces from around with a surface of 8326 square miles and a population of about 18 million inhabitants.
