Abu Dhabi’s Masdar to invest USD 2 million in solar energy technologies

Abu Dhabi : The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar has announced that it will invest USD 2 billion in solar energy technologies.

Masdar, fully owned by the Abu Dhabi government, is in an ambitious pursuit to become one of the world’s pioneers in developing alternative energy sources.

Earlier this year, the Abu Dhabi government committed USD15 billion towards efforts to explore, develop and commercialise clean energy sources.

Of the two plants for manufacturing solar energy panels, the first will be set up in Germany and will become operational by next year. The second plant will be set up in Abu Dhabi and will be operational in 2010, according to a statement from Masdar Wednesday.
