Islamabad : Pakistan has sent a formal request to the United Nations to investigate the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, her widower Asif Ali Zardarisaid Friday.
After speaking at the Socialist International Asia-Pacific Committee, Zardari, co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party told reporters that the government had formally sent the request to the U.N. to probe into Bhutto’s assassination.
Benazir Bhutto was killed at the gate of Liaquat Bagh park in the city of Rawalpindi on Dec. 27, 2007 after addressing an election rally.
Upon the request of Pakistani government, a team of Scotland Yard came to help Pakistani police in the probe.
