Jammu: Providing a little respite to its lakhs of subscribers in the state, the government owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today eased the ban on short message service (SMS) in the Jammu and Kashmir by restoring the Service Messages.
“With this a subscriber can receive the service message from BSNL containing the billing details etc” told General Manager (Mobile) BSNL, J&K Circle while talking to News Agency of Kashmir.
However, the ban on SMS (outgoing message) will continue, he said, while maintaining that the restoration of Service Messages will help the subscribers to know their bills on time and avoid discontinuations of their mobile phones.
It is pertinent of mention here that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being deprived of the SMS service since the first week of August this year followed by a ban on SMS Service by government when the State was reeling under turmoil over the Amarnath land transfer controversy.
