Patna: This is the question Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, the main accused in the Malegaon blast case, had reportedly asked Ramji Kalsangaram, the absconding main accused who allegedly parked the explosive laden bike.
This statement is a part of the long telephonic conversation between Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Ramji Kalsangaram, which the Maharashtra ATS presented before the court in Nashik yesterday as proof of her involvement in the Malegaon blasts.
The prosecution argued before the Chief Judicial Magistrate KD Boche that it is clear from the conversation that Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur is involved in the Malegaon blast.
In the conversation the Sadhvi has expressed surprise over the fact that a few people were killed in the Malegaon blast where her bike was used.
(Excerpts from the transcripts)
Sadhvi: They (police) will take me away today evening.
Ramji: Why?
Sadhvi: They’ve found my bike in connection with Malegaon blasts.
Ramji: But hadn’t you sold the bike?
Sadhvi: Where should I tell them I sold it? MP, Gujarat or Maharashtra?
Ramji: Tell them Gujarat.
Sadhvi: What if they ask me when I sold it?
Ramji: Tell them you don’t remember.
Sadhvi: Why did so few people die? Why didn’t you park (the bike) in a crowded area?
Ramji: I tried to park the bike in a crowded area but didn’t get space. And there were no crowds where I finally managed to park. We’ll manage if something major happens.
Sadhvi, however, pleaded not guilty and pointed out that she and others have been arrested as a part of the conspiracy to defame Hindutva. She also alleged torture by the ATS personnel during her interrogation before and after her formal arrest.
The court sent her to the judicial custody along with her two alleged accomplices Shyam Bhavarlal Sahu and Shiv Narain Singh Kalsangram till November 17.
ATS also arrested Ajay Rahirkar (39) along with his two accomplices Jagdish Mhatre (40) and Rakesh Dhawade (42) from Pune on Sunday.
Hemant Kerkare, the joint commissioner ATS pointed out that senior members of the group used to send Rahikar money and he used to manage the financial affairs of the men who carried out the September 29 blasts.
Kerkare pointed out that actually the ATS came to know about the involvement of Ajay Rahirkar from Sameer Kulkerni, one of the arrested persons.
So far eight people have been arrested in the Malegaon blast case.
It was during an interrogation that Kulkerni accepted that he had received money from Rahikar. Rahikar also gave money to RakeshDhawade to acquire weapons.
ATS also siezed some weapons from Mhatre and Dhawade who had received them from Mhatre. ATS recovered six weapons including six imported weapons and about 190 rounds from Dhawade.
ATS presented Ajay Rahirkar, Jagdish Mhatre and Rakesh Dhawade before the court.
ATS will present Retired major Ramesh Shivji Upadhyay and Abhinav Bharat organization activist Sameer Kulkarni in Nasik court after their remand ends on November 10.
Giving up their initial ‘law will take its course’ approach, the Hindutva organizations including the BJP are coming to fore in support of the Malegaon blast accused particularly Sadhvi Pragya.
When the court proceedings were going on in Nashik yesterday hundreds of activists of Shiva Sena and Abhinava Bharat were holding demonstration against their arrest terming it as fake and a conspiracy to defame Hindutva.
Shiv Sena has said that all Hindus must support Sadhvi Pragya. Last week the party extended legal help to the accused.
Competing for the Hindu votes many Hindutva organizations didn’t hesitate to criticize the BJP for its initial disowning of Sadhvi Pragya.
Uma Bharti and Shiv Sena accused the BJP of deserting a Hindutva activist. Uma Bharti said that BJP only knows of using Hindutva activists and later on disowning them. She offered the Sadhwi a ticket in the coming assembly election. Shiv Sena offered Sadhvi legal help.
BJP went on defensive about the Sadhvi connection in the Malegaon terror attack. In fact its Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani went on to the extent of denying any connection of his party with Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. He favored punishment if she is guilty.
But recently after discussion between some senior leaders of the party and RSS and for fear of losing the Hindu votes, the BJP is now openly supporting the Sadhvi.
The party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told media persons that the case against Sadhvi was “sponsored” and she is being “harassed”.
Moreover the party has come under huge criticism for the double standards while taking position on terrorism.
It treats differently the Muslims who were arrested in terror cases and the Hindus arrested for the blasts like the one in Thane, Panvel, Nanded, Tenkasi and the recent blasts in Malegaon and Modasa. It considers the Sadhvi and her accomplices only as accused but termed the youths killed in Batla House encounter and arrested in Delhi blast case as “terrorists.”
