New Delhi : It was a sight to see though few could as it came in the middle of the night — dejected ticket-seekers indulging in a free-for-all at the Congress headquarters here.
Many ticket-seekers from Rajasthan were camping here for a couple of weeks. When they did not find their names in the candidates’ list, they lost their cool and were after Mukul Wasnik, the party general secretary in charge of the state.
Congress sources said it happened past Tuesday midnight. The fight was in particular over the Ajmer constituency. But better sense prevailed soon and matters were brought to a peaceful conclusion.

Dikshit has no time for ‘Fashion’
It was to be an exclusive screening for Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who is a known film buff. But, she had no time for Madhur Bhandarkar’s much talked about “Fashion”.
A special show of the film, which is creating waves for its comment on the fashion world, was organised last week by the film’s publicists at the Film Division Auditorium.
Dikshit was expected there though no other Congress leader was invited. Quipped a Delhi government official: “The show must have been planned to provide some relief to the chief minister who has no time left for herself with aspiring candidates thronging her residence and office for the last few days.”
But the film was eventually screened in Dikshit’s absence as she sent the message that she won’t be able to come due to her hectic schedule.

Advani’s advice convinced Jolly
What finally convinced BJP leader Vijay Jolly to take on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the New Delhi constituency? A chat with BJP prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani.
Dikshit has twice won from the Gole Market constituency. But after the delimitation exercise, that seat does not exist any more – it is now the New Delhi constituency.
Jolly, whose candidature was announced Nov 1, was in a dilemma whether to contest from the New Delhi constituency or not.
“I was in a dilemma. But a day before my name was announced I met Advaniji. We talked at ease and he addressed my concerns,” he said
Jolly, a businessman by profession, said the senior BJP leader assured him that he was a clear-cut winner.
And he has already started campaigning, despite a fractured right leg.
“I was honoured that in a party with first, second and third generations of leaders, I am fielded against Dikshit. I am sure of winning. Dikshit is living in a fool’s paradise if she thinks she would win,” said Jolly, who had a sore throat after addressing a meeting at 4 a.m. Wednesday.
