Sri Lanka Forces Kill 6 Rebels in Sea Battle

Colombo : Sri Lanka Ministry of Defense announced Air Force engaged in battle with seven Tamil Tiger boats on Tuesday along the northern coast of the island, destroying two crafts and killing at least six rebels.

A military report disclosed in Colombo assures that a special unit from the Air Force destroyed two rebel crafts of the Tamil Tigers Sea fighters, Liberation of Tamil Eelam (TLTE).

Other five Tamil boats were sunk by the Air Force.

According to the official version, Armed Forces neither had casualties or damage to the military ships.

During recent months, Sri Lanka Army conquered most of the territory in hands of TLTE and it is approaching Kilinochchi.

The Tigers are fighting for a separate state for Sri Lankan Tamils, a goal of the war which started in 1983 and is now one of Asia’s longest insurgencies.
