Pakistani leader for sending tribal delegation to Washington to urge for halt to U.S missile strikes

Islamabad : A Pakistani political leader Monday asked the government to send a delegation of tribal elders to Washington to urge the U.S administration to stop missile strikes in the tribal region.

Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (Justice Movement) said the tribesmen should inform the American government about the on ground situation of the war-affected areas of Pakistan.

“The tribesmen should appeal for stopping the missile attacks against innocent people of tribal regions and other adjoining areas”.

Addressing a rally, he said his party was concerned over increasing violation of the Pakistan’s aerial boundaries by the US jets and attacks on innocent residents of the tribal areas.

“The proposed delegation of tribal elders should also meet the President-elect of U.S Barrack Obama and his predecessor George W.

Bush “to apprise them of the loss gravity of situation in the tribal regions and the loss of precious innocent lives,” he added.

“Let the new US government know that change in policies, especially the stance on so-called war against terror, was overwhelming demand of the people directly affected by it,” he remarked.

Earlier, Imran Khan led the rally of a large number of party workers to condemn the U.S strikes in the tribal regions.

The participants were carrying banners and placrards, inscribed with anti-U.S slogans. They were also chanting slogans against the U.S strikes and were demanding immediate halt to attacks.
