Raziuddin Nasir, the third son of a religious leader Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin has been booked by Ahmadabad police in connection with the recent serial blasts in Ahmedabad.

Nasir, who was arrested by Karnataka police in January last at Honalli in Belgaum district in connection with a vehicle lifting case was later booked in a criminal conspiracy case alleging he was planning to carry out terror attacks in Karnataka.

Nasir, who was earlier brought to Hyderabad for questioning in connection with the bomb blasts in Hyderabad last year was taken by the Gujarat police on September 23 on a transit warrant. After questioning by crime branch in Ahmedabad he was booked in a criminal conspiracy case there. The Gujrat police claimed that during the questioning Nasir confessed his involvement in the conspiracy to carry out the serial blasts, even though he was in Belgam jail at the time of the blasts in Ahmedabad.

The Gujarat police also claimed that Nasir was a member of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba and had trained the local youth of Ahmedabad in manufacturing bombs using Ammonium Nitrate and iron balls. The police also say Raziuddin had gone to Pakistan through Saudi Arabia to undergo arms training.

The fact that Nasir was booked by Gujarat police came to light when some one from Gujrat police called his home in Hyderabad and informed his mother Tasneem Fatima about it.

“The caller said I am calling from Ahmedabad crime branch and we have arrested Nasir in connection with Ahmedabad bomb blast case”, Nasir’s mother said.

Expressing her shock and distress over the latest development Tasneem Fatima wondered how a young boy who was in jail for the past nine months could be arrested and booked in a new case. “They took him to Gujarat from Karnataka saying it was only for questioning”, she said.

“It is clear that the police force of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat is after my family. It has become a regular feature of the police functioning to trap the innocent people in false cases”, she said.

“My husband is in Sabarmati jail for the last four years and now they have taken my son there”, she said.

Tasneem Fatima’s two other sons Muqeemuddin Yasser and Baleeghuddin Jaber are languishing in Charlapally jail of Hyderabad on terror related cases. The police say they were involved in a criminal conspiracy case to wage war against the state, a charge the family strongly denies.
