By KUNA,
Geneva : President of the Arab Interim Parliament (AIP) and Kuwaiti MP Mohammad Jassem Al-Saqer met Monday with Speaker of the Islamic Shura Assembly Ali Larijani.
Al-Saqer told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the 119th Inter-Parliamentary-Union (IPU) conference that the meeting was very important in order to revive the idea of an Arab-Iranian dialogue, which was endorsed by the Arab parliament two years ago but was impeded by events in the region.
He added that it was very important to revive this initiative as the situation in the region was “explosive”.
Al-Saqer explained that AIP’s point of view came into a conclusion that there was a lot to unite Arabs and Iranians rather than divide them.
He said that he would visit Iran soon at the invitation of Larijani to prepare for this conference, as well as a number of key Arab states.
Al-Saqer stressed that this meeting would not be only beneficial to the Arabs and Iran but to the whole world, adding that it would engage all specialists and civil society organizations and not only governments.
