Bochum (Germany) : VfL Bochum and Borussia Moenchengladbach played out a 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga.
The struggling visitors took a one-goal lead into the change rooms after Steve Gohouri managed to head a cross from Marko Marin into goal on the half hour here Friday.
Bochum were the stronger side going into the second half and it was only a matter of time before they equalised. They were rewarded for their efforts ten minutes after the restart when Christoph Dabrowski scored after a defensive slip-up.
Turkish international striker Sinan Kaloglu put Bochum in front in the 77th minute with a free header, but their lead lasted just two minutes as Thomas Kleine pushed the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble.
Gladbach coach Christian Ziege, who has only spent ten days in charge after Jos Luhukay was fired and is expected to make place again next week and return to his previous post of sporting director, said that he was proud of his team.
“To come back for a draw after going behind like that is great. I had ten wonderful days in charge, but I hope that we will find a coach soon,” he said.
The result would have made neither side very happy, although Gladbach moved one place from the bottom after switching places with Frankfurt. They have four points from their seven games, while Bochum are 14th with seven points.
Table-toppers SV Hamburg are facing challengers Schalke 04 on Sunday. Hamburg lead the standings with 16 points from their seven games, while Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart are second and third respectively with 12 points.
