Three persons have been arrested for their involvement in the blasts at Malegaon town of Nashik district, Joint Commissioner of Police (ATS) Hemant Karkare said on Friday.

However, Karkare refused to reveal further details.

Sources said the trio is likely to be produced in a Nashik court.

At least five persons were killed in the Malegaon blast, while one was killed in an explosion in Modasa in Gujarat. In both the cases, bombs were placed on motorcycles parked in crowded areas.

Earlier, four persons were detained by police from Indore and Dewas and later taken to Mumbai for questioning.

They were identified as Shyam Sahu, Dilip Nahar and Shivnarayan Singh from Indore and Dharmendra Bairagi from Dewas, according to police sources.

Initially they were picked up in connection with a theft of a motorcycle on October 19, they said.

Maharashtra Police suspect the involvement of Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) in the Malegaon-Modasa blasts, a charge denied by the right-wing outfit.

The HJM said that it has no direct or indirect connection with the blasts.
