Morales and his accompanying delegation traveled from Libya and were welcomed at the capital”s Mehrabad International Airport by Iranian Industry and Mining Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian.

Ahmadinejad will welcome the Bolivian statesman in the presidential headquarters and talks will focus on investments in the hydrocarbon sector.

Bolivia is one of the main Latin American gas producers, and the Islamic Republic is the world-fourth largest exporter of that resources.

According to the IRNA agency, Morales” agenda also includes examining issues of bilateral and international common interests.

Morales traveled here accompanied by his spokesman Ivan Canelas, Hydrocarbon Minister Carlos Villegas, and Bolivian ambassador for Trade and Integration issues Pablo Solon.

The Bolivian president”s first visit to Iran will last two days, and conclude with the signing by both parties of cooperation accords in several fields.

The Iranian governor visited La Paz in September 2007, some weeks after establishing diplomatic relations, and then inked an accord to implement a cooperation program valued at $1.1 million.

At that time, Ahmadinejad and Morales also signed a joint declaration to “build a multipolar world,” and defended developing countries” right to use nuclear energy with peaceful purposes.
