This time the EC invited BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia nominated secretary general of the party Khondoker Delwar Hossain. Earlier, it invited “reformist” faction secretary general Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed.

Chief Election Commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda said the commission invited the political parties to avoid complications regarding their registration as demanded by the amended Representation of People Order (RPO).

EC officials said the political parties were requested to send a five-member team each for the talks with the commission.

EC first held talks with political parties in September last year and invited them for the second round of talks in February this year.
