Hijacked ship near Somalia owned by Egyptian and several Gulf nationals

Cairo : The hijacked cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden near Somalia called “Mansoura,” was identified on Saturday as owned by Red Sea Navigation, an Egyptian company owned by an Egyptian and several Gulf Arab nationals, said spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Husam Zaki.

Zaki told reporters that the 25-manned vessel was carrying a shipment of cement on its way from Pakistan to Djibouti when hijacked by Somali pirates before making a stopover at a Somali port.

Pirates off Somalia’s coast hijacking the Egyptian cargo ship with 25 crew members, is the 10th vessel to be seized in the region in less than two months, a global maritime watchdog said . Another nine ships have also previously been captured in the area that connects the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean.
