Sanaa : A blast shook the US Embassy in Sanaa minutes ago, shattering glass of surrounding buildings and causing a blackout in the area.
An embassy source told KUNA that the blast was caused by a booby-trapped car which was parked at the main entrance of the embassy, leading to grave material damages.
The source said there was no immediate reports of casualties.
Heavy columns of smoke were seen rising from the embassy compound by KUNA correspondent, and heavy firing of ammunition can be heard.
Ambulances and police cars rushed to the area.
