Admiral Mullen met with General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, the military chief of Pakistan, and discussed bilateral cooperation in the ongoing war against terrorism.

According to official sources, General Kayani also raised the issue of repeated US troops’ ground and air intrusions into Pakistani territory.

Admiral Mullen also held talks with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

The visit by Admiral Michael Mullen comes amid growing anxiety in the bordering tribal region where over 50 persons including children and women have been killed in the US missile attacks.

Pakistani tribesmen on Monday vowed to join the Taliban if the US failed to stop cross-border attacks into their territory and threatened to target US bases in Afghanistan.

“We will also seek support from the tribal elders in Afghanistan to fight jointly against America,” they announced.
