Namakkal (Tamil Nadu) : Five AIADMK members, including a former legislator and his 16-year-old son, were killed when a car being driven by the teenager met with an accident here Monday, police said.
The teenager K. Ravi and his father S. Karuppannan, 50, were killed. The others are: M. Ramesh (35), M. Chidambaram (60) and K. Namasivayam (55). They were all from the party’s Erode unit.
According to police, the accident occurred when a government bus collided with the vehicle driven by teenager Ravi. The party workers were returning from an election meeting in the vicinity. The bus driver D. Govindaraj has been arrested on charges of rash and negligent driving.
This industrial town is situated 350 km southwest of state capital Chennai.
