Alappuzha (Kerala) : Kerala Police Monday announced the arrest of 11 people for the murder of 32-year-old Paul M. George, son of prominent businessman and head of one of four groups of the Muthoot business house M.G. George Muthoot.
George was murdered Friday night.
“George was driving a Ford Endeavour vehicle and at Pallathuruthy he hit a two wheeler. The vehicle not stopping after hitting the two-wheeler angered a group of people who were waiting to get their tyre repaired. This group followed George’s vehicle,” Inspector General of Police Vinson M. Paul said.
“About two-and-half km from the accident spot they saw Goerge’s vehicle and in the melee he was stabbed,” Paul said.
Paul said that the group, which had 22 people, were hired goons and were on the way to commit a crime near Alappuzha.
“The investigations are still going on and we are yet to trace the person who stabbed George, but we know who he is. More arrests will be made soon,” said Paul.
He said that George was travelling with four people – his driver, Manu and Om Prakash and P. Rajesh, two people with criminal background. One Scorpio vehicle was following his vehicle.
“We are yet to ascertain who travelled in which of the two vehicles. Soon after the incident, Om Prakash and P. Rajesh escaped with the Endeavour. Their role in this murder case is also under investigation. But they are absconding and we are making all efforts to trace them,” Paul said.
He added that the Endeavour is now in police custody.
“A credit card and a bag have been recovered and there are blood stains inside the vehicle,” added Paul.
The St George’s School in Delhi is owned by George’s family. The principal of the school is Sara George, mother of the deceased. His father is the secretary of the Kottayam headquartered Orthodox Church.
