Ranchi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Sunday said that he was not in favour of a separate Vidarbha state.
“I am not in favour of a separate state,” said Chavan, responding to the demand for a separate Vidarbha state, while addressing a press conference here.
The Maharashtra chief minister was in Jharkhand to campaign for Congress nominees in the ongoing state assembly polls.
Chavan said that all possible help would be extended to Jharkhand for development.
“Maharashtra is ready to extend all support to Jharkhand for development. If needed, Maharashtra will not hesitate in signing a state to state memorandum of understanding (MoU) for development of Jharkhand,” he said.
