New Delhi: The call for boycott of products from countries supporting the Israeli stand on Gaza issue is getting stronger here in India. Several speakers at a program here in Delhi today called upon people to boycott such products which in any way are helping Israel.
Muslim Political Council of India president Dr Tasleem Rahmani said while the Muslim community should continue pressing the Government of India to revisit its Palestine policy, the community should be ready to boycott the products of companies which directly or indirectly are helping the Israeli aggression on innocent Palestinians.
Khalid Mubasshir, assistant covenor of Delhi-based Palestine Solidarity Movement, said Muslims in India are not in a position to stop killings of innocents in Gaza but they have one option at their disposal by which they somehow affect the economy of Israel. He said Muslims should boycott all products of US companies and other nations which blindly support Israeli position on Gaza. This is an effective weapon in their hand which can bring a change in the situation there, he said.
The program was organized by Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Hind at Jamia Millia Islamia to express solidarity with the Palestinians.
Yesterday in another program, several people including ex-MP Shashi Bhushan and National Minority Commission chairman Shafi Qureshi strongly condemned the Gaza aggression and urged people to boycott goods manufactured by Israeli lobby, especially Pepsi and Coca Cola.
