Vice-President Hamid Ansari leaves for home after visiting Mandalayt

Nay Pyi Taw : A visiting Indian goodwill delegation led by Vice-President Shri M. Hamid Ansari and his wife, arrived in Mandalay from Yangon on Saturday.

They were welcomed at Mandalay International Airport by the Chairman of the Mandalay Division Peace and Development Council and Commander of the Central Command, Major-General Tin Ngwe, the Chairman of the Mandalay City Development Committee and Mayor, Brigadier-General Phone Zaw Han and their wives, and Indian Consul-General in Mandalay Shri Y.P. Singh and officials.

The guests visited Hsutaungpyae Pagoda on Mandalay Hill and viewed the sunset scene of Mandalay city from the hill. In the evening, the mayor hosted a dinner for the Indian delegation.

On Saturday morning, the Indian vice-president and his party attended the signing ceremony of an agreement to inaugurate the Trans-Border Optical Fiber Communication Link between Myanmar and India.

Before leaving Yangon, the guests visited the Myanan Sankyaw Golden Palace Museum and Maha Lawka Marazein Kuthodaw Pagoda.

The Indian goodwill delegation departed Mandalay for India on Saturday afternoon. They were seen off at the airport by the commander and the mayor and their wives,
Myanmar Ambassador to India U Kyi Thein, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Aloke Sen and senior officials.
