Indian Union Muslim League to contest on 10 seats in UP

New Delhi: In its meeting held here yesterday Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) decided to contest on 10 parliamentary seats Uttar Pradesh in forthcoming general elections.

According to the unanimous decision taken in the meeting, IUML will not forge any alliance with any parties. However, it will give preference to Congress Party, in case any such need arises because it has been in alliance with it. For any such eventuality, the party has formed a committee comprising its central leaders in order to hold discussions with Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The meeting was chaired by the state minister for external affairs, E. Ahmad. Others present in the meeting include UP IUML president Kausar Hayat, vice president advocate Iqbal Ahmad and Secretary Dr. Mateen.
