“He has abused and misused his power. Reddy has violated as many as six acts with the scam,” N. Chandrababu Naidu, TDP chief, told reporters.

Sitaram Yechury, politburo member of Communist Party of India-Marxist and A.B. Bardhan, general secretary of Communist Party of India, also joined the call for a probe against Reddy.

“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is against this kind of capitalism. The prime minister must act at the earliest,” Yechury said.

Demanding punishment in the Satyam case, Bardhan said: “If this goes unpunished, this would lead to mafia rule in the country.”

B. Ramalinga Raju, founder-chairman of the fourth largest IT firm in India, on Jan 7 shocked the nation as he admitted to a Rs.70-billion accounting fraud in the firm over the years.

Ramalinga Raju, his brother B. Rama Raju, the company’s former chief financial officer Vadlmani Srinivas and two former employees of the auditing firm Price Waterhouse are now in jail as investigations are under way.
