ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (KUNA) — Pakistan Monday urged the international community to play its role in bringing back India, the archrival, to negotiations, which have been frozen since Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Pakistani Foreign Minister, Foreign Secretary and Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Affairs Monday briefed foreign diplomats on Indo-Pak relations, which have been strained in the aftermath of Mumbai attacks, which New Delhi has imputed to Pakistan-based elements.
A large number of foreign diplomats from the Middle East, Europe and other countries were present during the briefing.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmoud Qureshi, giving the briefing, asked the international community to play its role in bringing back India to peaceful negotiations. The peace dialogue between India and Pakistan has been suspended since Mumbai attacks.
The Minister said that investigations on the information being provided by India are being carried out. He reaffirmed the Pakistani government’s determination to extend full cooperation and assistance in investigating the Mumbai incident. He also asked India to avoid the “blame game” and cooperate with Pakistan to help bring the culprits to justice. He said it was important that India respond positively to Pakistan’s proposals for engagement to address meaningfully the issue of terrorism in the region.
