By Xinhua,
Islamabad : At least five people were killed Thursday when missiles fired from a suspected US drone landed close to them in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said.
Dawn TV said the drone fired four missiles in the Shahalam area of South Waziristan, and one of the missiles hit a militants’ training camp.
According to Geo TV, the missiles struck a base of Taliban commander Wali (only the first name was given) in the Shahalam village. The impact of the explosions also damaged nearby buildings.
In the recent past, the Pakistani government has criticized the US drone attacks in its territory, saying the attacks were counter-productive in the fight against terrorism.
