Seven killed in truck-van collision in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Seven people were killed and 12 injured when a truck hit a van in Garhwa district of Jharkhand Friday, police said.

According to the police, the van, carrying around 20 people, was coming to Garwah town from Nagautari block of the district. Near Lagma village, the vehicle’s rear tyre burst, leading to to the driver losing control and a truck, moving in the opposite direction, hit the van.

Five passengers died on the spot, and two succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital. The condition of nine of the 12 injured is said to be said serious and they have been referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in the state capital for treatment.

Garhwa is around 160 km from the state capital Ranchi.
