Bihar town peaceful after communal clash

Patna : Sasaram town in Bihar, where about two dozen people were injured in communal clashes Thursday night, was peaceful Saturday, police and officials said.

“Everything is peaceful in the town and police have deployed forces to keep watch,” a district official said.

Sasaram Superintendent of Police Vikas Vaivho said police were on the alert and had succeeded in controlling anti-social elements in the town, about 200 km from here.

“Armed forces have been deployed in sensitive areas near Sher Shah’s tomb,” another police official said.

Two activists of a rightwing outfit were arrested, police said.

Groups of two communities attacked each other and went on a rampage Thursday night, looting nine shops, police said.
