Sydney : It has been two weeks since the Sri Lankan cricket team survived a terror attack in Lahore but middle-order batsman Thilan Samaraweera continues to remain in hospital in Colombo.
Samaraweera, who had a bullet removed from his left thigh, is being treated at a private hospital, said Geethanjana Mendis, the team doctor.
Ajantha Mendis, who had shrapnel extracted from his head and back, was released from hospital overnight.
Tharanga Paranavitana, who had a bullet taken out of his chest, and the assistant coach Paul Farbrace were discharged at the weekend.
The convoy of players, officials and coaches on their way to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the third day’s play of the second Test match was March 3 ambushed by gunmen firing automatic weapons, grenades and a rocket launcher.
“The medical team handling their post-trauma side say the players are a bit shaken up, but those not injured can resume training next week,” Mendis said.
