Karachi : Former Pakistan Test batsman Ijaz Ahmed was Thursday arrested in Lahore on charges of forging bank cheques.
According to Lahore police officials, Ijaz was arrested after complaints were filed against him for forging two cheques amounting to Rs10.5 million.
Ijaz, 40, runs his business in Lahore apart from working as a fielding coach for the National Cricket Academy.
The hard-hitting batsman, who played 60 Tests and 250 ODIs for Pakistan between 1987 and 2001, is accused of cheating two of his clients with forged cheques.
However, Ijaz’s lawyer told a television channel that the forgery case registered against his client is false.
Ijaz is the brother-in-law of former captain Salim Malik, who was banned for life for match-fixing.
