Though Advani addressed a gathering in Maharajganj district, barely a few hours after Gandhi surrendered in a court in Pilibhit and was sent to jail, he did not speak on the controversy during his 20-minute speech.

Advani blamed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) for growing terrorism in the country. He also held the central government responsible for the farmers’ suicides in many parts of the country.

He called upon the young voters to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“Voting is not only your right but also a duty,” said Advani during his rally at the Jawaharlal Nehru Degree College in Maharajganj.
