He was struck off the rolls of the university on September 22, 2008, the day after his arrest in connection with the September 13 serial blasts. Soon after his arrest the VC Mushirul Hasan announced legal aid to the accused. So there was no point to think that he has already been expelled. But his family came to know about his expulsion only after exam dates were announced and his admit card did not reach his home

His family appealed to the university to revoke his expulsion and allow him to sit in exams but one month after they did not get any response they have moved the court.
