Campaigning ends for Tuesday’s assembly polls

New Delhi: The campaigning for Tuesday’s assembly polls in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh ended Sunday evening with the Election Commission directing state officers to ensure that no canvassing takes place till voting time.

“The commission has directed the Chief Electoral Officers of Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra to ensure that after the closure of campaign period, no canvassing takes place within the constituencies,” the Election Commission said in a release here.

The poll panel also said all political workers and activists who are not voters of a constituency should leave the area.

However, the restriction does not apply to office bearers of political parties who are in-charge of the party affairs in the state.
