New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia will confer Honoris Causa Degree upon four eminent personalities: Arjan Singh (Marshal of the Indian Air Force; Justice V.N. Khare (former Chief Justice of India); Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M.A. Zaki (former Vice-Chancellor, JMI); and Prof. M. Amin (renowned historian). The degrees will be conferred during the Annual Convocation on October 30.
Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, will be the Chief Guest of the Convocation.
A total of 3279 degrees/diplomas and 112 Ph.Ds will be awarded during the convocation. Over 137 Gold Medals are expected to be awarded to toppers. Of this total figure, on the basis of confirmations received by the University, 2500 students are expected to attend the Convocation where degrees shall be awarded to Diploma, graduate, post-graduate, M. Phil and Ph. D. courses. All degrees are for the academic year 2007-08.
