According to the police, the servant drugged the son and daughter-in-law of Superintendent of Police Rajinder Singh Chaudhary who were later admitted to a local hospital in Yamunanagar in Haryana in an unconscious state Friday.

“A Nepali servant who was given a job by this family a few days back is missing. We are suspecting that he had mixed some toxic substance in the food of the police officer’s son and daughter-in-law last (Thursday) night,” Superintendent of Police (Yamunanagar) Vikas Arora told IANS.

“Police have registered a case and started investigations. We are working on the theory of robbery as various things were found disturbed in the house. We also called forensic experts to collect vital clues from the house,” he added.

Yamunanagar is around 150 km from state capital Chandigarh.

Chaudhary himself was posted in this state’s south-west district Rewari and was away on duty when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, police were trying to ascertain the details of the missing servant. Various police teams were dispatched to conduct raids at possible hideouts to nab the accused, a police officer said.
