“The rain has hardly affected the temperature. In any case it was just in traces. The minimum temperature this morning was eight degrees above average at 29 degrees Celsius,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The official further predicted a rise in the mercury level.

“The western disturbance caused the rain. But now it has passed and temperatures are likely to rise again. While the maximum is expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius, it’s the rising minimum temperature that is causing one to feel more hot and uncomfortable,” the official added.

The humidity recorded Tuesday morning was 40 percent.
