San Jose : The Costa Rican Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday the opening of an embassy in Indian capital New Delhi.
“There have been operations being started to listen to the public consultations and make the procedures to accredit the Costa Rican diplomats to take charge there,” diplomat Antonio Alarcon said.
The opening of the embassy was announced in December 2009 by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias as part of the Central American country’s expansion of ties with Asia, Xinhua reported.
“The opening of the embassy in India is a milestone in the history of Costa Rica’s diplomacy,” Costa Rican Foreign Minister Bruno Stagno said.
According to Stagno, Costa Rica’s ties with Asia will bring more exchanges, cooperation and investments.
The Foreign Ministry said it has not appointed its ambassador to India.
