The Venezuelan president and his Argentine colleague presided over the signing ceremony at the presidential palace in Caracas.

In the energy sector, agreements were signed to begin construction projects for Venezuela’s electrical infrastructure, including a wind farm in the western state of Zulia.

Argentina is one of the countries helping Venezuela to overcome the electrical crisis that plagues the Caribbean country and has caused rolling blackouts nationwide, except for Caracas.

State-owned Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. Industrial signed with Argentine firms Gas Tecnology and GNC Galileo an agreement to undertake two joint ventures aimed at establishing natural gas as an automotive fuel in Venezuela.

The governments of Caracas and Buenos Aires also signed a letter of intent to build a regasification plant in Argentina to process liquefied natural gas from Venezuela.

Fernandez arrived in Venezuela last weekend to take part Monday in the bicentennial ceremonies commemorating the beginning the nation’s march to independence.
