Patna: In a good move towards strengthening the educational system at Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Bihar Government yesterday approved 52 posts of teaching as well as non-teaching staff at the University. The decision was taken at the meeting of state Cabinet presided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Afzal Amanullah said that Cabinet has approved 52 posts at Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University. The posts include Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, College Inspector, Finance Officer, Exam Controller, Account Officer, University Engineer, Assistant Engineer, two Professors, 10 Readers and 30 Lecturers. The State Government will spend Rs. 2.19 crore annually for the salaries of these staffs.
Till now there have a few members of staff who have been handling the functions at the University. It is expected that this new development will strengthen and widen the educational activities at the University.
Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University was established in 1998 in Patna by the then Bihar Government led by Rabri Devi in the name of great freedom fighter Maulana Mazharul Haque. The university was able to start academic activities in 2006 while classes began in 2008. Till the date the University does not have its own building and land and currently it is functioning at a kuccha house at Beily Road in Patna
Nitish Government sanctioned Rs. 8.32 crore on 27th April to buy land for the University but as it seems insufficient amount for the purpose, no development has been seen in this regard.
Besides, the Cabinet also granted Rs. 80 crore for salary of Madarsa teachers in the current financial year sanctioning Rs. 20 crore to pay them immediately for three months. This indeed will give some relief to Madarsa teachers because they did not get their salaries for last five months.
