New Delhi : India’s industrial output accelerated to 10.8 percent in October from 4.4 percent in the previous month, led by a healthy growth in manufacturing, automobiles and power sectors.
“Now the seven month average is 10.3 percent. I hope this trend will continue and we will register double digit industrial growth this fiscal,” Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters.
On the wide monthly variation in monthly data, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia separately cautioned against getting carried away by its short-term variations.
“We should look at the bigger picture. What is true is that in the year as a whole, production growth is doing quite well,” said Ahluwalia.
