Jamia students to take out cycle rally to spread message of peace

New Delhi: In an effort to spread the message of peace and harmony, 25 students of Jamia Millia Islamia are all set to cycle from Pushkar, a city of Rajasthan to Delhi. This ten-day peace mission will be covering a distance of 442 km.

Starting on 6 February, a group of 20 boys and five girls will set off from Brahma Temple in Pushkar towards Ajmer. After paying homage at the shrine of saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, they will reach Jaipur after four days. They are also expected to meet Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal after reaching Delhi on16.



Talking to media, Jamia Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung said: “The rally is not just a test of their endurance, but also a commitment to the cause of peace, harmony and pluralism.”’

The students will be cycling an average of 42-50 kilometres per day for which they have been practicing in a conditioning camp organised by the university for the last one month.
