Islamabad : Pakistan military on Saturday at highest level came up with a harsh reaction to remarks from Indian army chief that Indian forces are ready to battle Pakistan and China at the same time.
According to Indian newspaper, India Daily, General Deepak Kapoor said that Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army are effectively ready to face Pakistan and China.
Pakistan Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majid, described the Indian army chief’s remarks as Jingoistic pronouncement of Indian military preparations to fight China and Pakistan simultaneously.
General Majid said, “leave alone China, General Deepak Kapoor knows very well what the Indian Armed Forces cannot and Pakistan Armed Forces can pull off militarily”.
According to an army statement, General Tariq doubted veracity of Indian media report attributed to General Kapoor stating that “he could not be so outlandish in strategic postulations to fix India on a self destruct mechanism. “But if the news report is correct, the uncalled for rhetoric only betrays lack of strategic acumen,” he said.
In a veiled reference to India, the Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani yesterday said Pakistan Army was fully alert and alive to the full spectrum of threat that continues to exist in conventional and non-conventional domains.
“Proponents of conventional application of military force, in a nuclear overhang, are chartering an adventurous and dangerous path, the consequences of which could be both unintended and uncontrollable,” General Kayani told senior officers at the General Headquarters
