New Delhi: Indian intelligence and security agencies are working in close coordination with their counterparts in Dhaka to safeguard Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her three-day visit to India, starting Sunday.
“We are working in a close coordination with Bangladesh’s Special Security Force. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be provided the same level of security as is given to any head of the state visiting India,” a senior security official told IANS, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“The security will be multi-layered with commandos deployed at every nook and corner. There will be quick reaction teams all along her route. Her convoy will include many escort and pilot vehicles as well as ambulances,” the official added.
According to another official, Hasina is likely to stay at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel.
“We have taken elaborate security measures in and around the hotel. Staff is being sensitised,” the official said. He, however, refused to comment on level of threat to Bangladesh prime minister.
Media reports in Dhaka said Wednesday that there would be multi-layered security for Hasina in India and that one of her public engagements had been cancelled.
