Bhubaneswar : Police have detained a 25-year-old youth for allegedly attacking a Russian woman tourist at Orissa’s beach town of Puri, an official said Tuesday.

“We have detained a 25-year-old youth. He is being interrogated,” B.P. Pati, inspector in charge of the Sadar police station, told IANS.
According to the victim, she was on a bicycle when a man attacked her with a sharp knife and tried to snatch her bag.
“The person waylaid me while I was going on my bicycle. He tried to snatch my bag. He stabbed me and decamped with my mobile phone and money,” said Nadedza.
The tourist, who has been in the beach city for some days, received stab injuries on her left hand.
