In his closing speech to the Swiss Economic Forum (SEF) late Friday night, Blair said that in order to overcome the Gaza crisis, initial measures needed to taken that help the Palestinian population and at the same time isolate Hamas.

“There is no alternative to a two-state solution,” he said, adding that the Israelis and Palestinians should live in peace, side-by-side.

He added, “Efforts must be doubled for this, because the goal is worthwhile: a peace in the Middle East.” Blair has been the Quartet’s Special Envoy to the Middle East since 2007.
