New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit and Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely Friday commended the marked improvement and overall performance of the government schools in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams, terming it a joint effort of the board, hard working teachers and sincere students.
“The Class 12 board results have been continuously showing an upward trend from 2005-06 onwards and have reached 88.87 percent for government schools up from 87.15 percent last year. This is due to the hard work put in by the children and parents, under the supervision and guidance of our school teachers,” Dikshit said.
Lovely said: “The overall performance of Delhi region is 84.97 percent and Delhi is on number two position, next to Chennai due to better results of government schools.”
Ensuring that learning becomes a joyful experience imparted in a friendly atmosphere, which will lead to allround development of the children, the chief minister stressed on the non-scholastic pattern of eduction too.
“This year the directorate of education will give due recognition and importance to the non-scholastic abilities of students, by giving these activities appropriate weightage in the Continuous and Current Evaluation (CCE) pattern of assessment. I am informed that efforts are on to make the CCE pattern applicable from Class VI itself,” she said.
According to lovely, 63 government schools achieved 100 percent results against 50 schools last year. In 2005, only 18 schools achieved 100 percent results. Moreover, 400 government schools achieved 90 percent and above results this year against 355 schools last year.
