The Rs.18 crore College of Architecture – Trivandrum (CAT) will offer research facilities in areas like green building technology, construction management and infrastructure planning, said veteran architect N.Mahesh, chairman of the Narayanan & Vaidyanathan Charitable & Educational Trust – the promoters of the college.

CAT is envisaged as a centre of excellence for study and advanced research in architecture, interior design, urban and regional planning, environmental planning, urban design, landscape architecture and structural design.

“The college, in association with the Indian Green Building Council, will facilitate students to obtain necessary professional expertise in sustainable architecture, energy and environmentally-sensitive architecture, through theoretical and practical training,” Mahesh said.

Currently, there are just four engineering colleges in Kerala that offer the architecture branch.

“The e-courses in architecture and project management will also be launched shortly,” Mahesh said.
